Franchisee Focus: TJ Banning

Whether you aspire to own your own business or want to expand your current entrepreneurial ventures, you are not alone. Nearly half of all Americans want to own a business. Their reasons are as diverse as the people themselves: it could be independence, the desire to own and grow an enterprise that belongs to them, the ambition to be a business leader or to pass a successful business on to their family.

At Rosati’s, we are a family.

When you invest and buy into Rosati’s Pizza franchise, you’re investing in family, in the chance to build something better, and most importantly, you’re investing in yourself.

Franchisee, TJ Banning, has been a part of the family for 22 years. Starting out as a team member at Rosati’s in Warrenville and working his way to eventually owning three Rosati’s Pizza locations, Banning has achieved his dream of being a business owner.

In 2000, Banning opened his first store in Yorkville – a carryout/delivery. Banning also took ownership of Rosati’s Pizza in Sandwich, IL in 2006. In 2010, he took a leap, relocated in Yorkville and opened the first Rosati’s Pizza & Sports Pub. As a result of his success, Banning opened a store in Mendota, IL in 2014.

Banning has been an integral part in the growth of the Rosati’s Pizza & Sports Pub model. His location in Yorkville, IL was the first Rosati’s Pizza & Sports Pub within the franchise. With seating for roughly 140 customers, this higher-margin, family friendly concept opens the store up like a family home and offers sports, beer and wine alongside Rosati’s full Italian menu.

Pizza brings people together.

TJ has seen this first hand while engaging with the Yorkville community. From providing pizza slices at the high school football and basketball games to hosting fundraisers for various community organizations, Rosati’s in Yorkville is fully engaged with the community.

To engage with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts, schools and many other groups, Banning’s gift card program around the holidays allows the groups to sell cards and make a profit, but ultimately drives business and further exposes the Rosati name within the community.

“Putting time into the community really pays off because then they will come back and give back to the store.”
