ABOUT
ROSATI'S

ANY WAY YOU SLICE IT, OUR STORY IS A GREAT ONE

A lot has changed since 1964, but our commitment to serving authentic Chicago-style pizza and traditional Italian fare isn’t one of them. We know that some things are better done the old-fashioned way, like sourcing fresh ingredients from farms we can name. Our authentic family recipes have been passed down from generation to generation and have now made their way into homes across the country. No matter how big we grow, we stay true to our roots and make great food our number one priority.

OUR STORY

  • 1895

Ferdinand Rosati, an Italian immigrant from the region of Naples, Italy, opened a fine-dining Pizzeria and Italian restaurant on Coney Island.

  • 1906

Ferdinand moved to Chicago and started another Italian restaurant on Chicago’s famous Taylor Street. Immense success led to expansion – a hotel, saloon, and small importing and exporting business of Italian foods were added to the restaurant.

Back then, pizza was strictly old-world Italian fare. It was simply a tomato sauce served on crisp bread that Ferdinand would put on the table as a special offering to his customers – and boy did the people love it!

  • 1927

Ferdinand’s son, Saverio Rosati, opened another restaurant on Pulaski and Madison in Chicago, right next to the Marbro Theater. Soon after, the restaurant became a favorite watering hole for the old Chicago society and Windy City politicians.

Contrary to popular belief, notorious gangster Al Capone and his entourage, could be spotted sharing a heaping dish of pasta with his so-called “nemesis” Eliot Ness.

  • 1964

When Saverio retired, his sons (Dick, Ron and Al Rosati) moved to the suburbs with a new and timely concept. Pizza was now a popular trend, so the brothers opened a Rosati’s pizzeria in the Illinois suburb of Mount Prospect.

  • 1978

By this point in time, a total of ten Rosati family members owned carryout pizzerias. With the Rosati name firmly established in the Chicago suburbs, the family took another giant leap and started franchising their Rosati’s restaurants.

  • TODAY

The Rosati’s brand has nearly 200 restaurants across America, has been included in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 list and inducted into the Pizza Hall of Fame! Great-grandpa Ferdinand would be so proud.
